Children's Worship & Education -

Kathy Hopner, Children and Family Minister (kathyhopner@juno.com)

Sunday learning opportunities for children and young people to grow in the Christian faith and in their relationships with one another. The curriculum used encourages students and teachers alike to apply their minds and experiences using the Bible and current events to make their way as young Christians.

Toddler Time (In the nursery)

The nursery is open from 9:30 am – noon each Sunday for infants and children up to 36 months. An experienced childcare worker will offer age-appropriate music, Bible stories, and craft activities.

First Sunday Family Eucharist (In the Crypt @ 10:15 am)

This is a child-friendly Eucharist for the whole family celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. There’s singing, movement, opportunities for child participation, a Godly Play story, and Holy Communion. Please join us for a unique and joyful worship experience. Since Family Eucharist is scheduled at the same time as the 10:15 Choral Eucharist in the main church, parents have a choice of either worshipping with their children downstairs or allowing them some “kids-only” time while the adults worship upstairs.

Children’s Chapel  (During the 10:15 Sunday Eucharist)

Children’s Chapel will be presented every Sunday on which there is no Family Eucharist. This will be an opportunity for children to participate in a Liturgy of the Word designed for their age group. Everyone will gather in the main church for the beginning of the 10:15 Eucharist, and after the Collect of the Day the children will be led into the Crypt for worship that will include a Godly Play story and some time to respond through a creative project. The children will be brought back into the main church before Communion in order to rejoin their parents for the remainder of worship.

Acolytes

Acolytes are a very important part of worship at Trinity. Young people aged 9 and up may be trained to serve on Sundays and on special occasions during the year. Contact the Rev. John Goddard at the church office for more information.

Episcopal Youth Community (EYC) -

The Rev. Karen Johanns, Associate for Youth & Young Adults

Meets every other Sunday during the school year from 5:30-7:30 pm.  EYC is a youth group for kids in both middle and high school, and young people from all four Episcopal churches in the Reno-Sparks area participate. All age groups come together for dinner and then separate for age-appropriate activities. Middle school youth work with the program known as Rite 13, while high schoolers are involved with Journey to Adulthood (J2A). Both programs offer a combination of learning, fun, fellowship, and deal with important issues facing youth today. We go on field trips, to the movies, and participate in service projects throughout the year. Meeting locations rotate between the local Episcopal churches. For more information on program location and dates, contact Karen Johanns at 329-4279 or kjohanns@trinityreno.org
